Since 1989

Dr. Samih Tarabishi was born in Damascus, the capital of Jasmine. He studied and graduated from the University of Medicine there in 1978. he made the decision to travel to the United States of America to specialize and do scientific research. The University of Illinois was his first trainee station in 1979,Where he started specializing and researching in the arthroplasty field, then Ohio University. Then Miguel University, where he graduated in 1987

In 1989, Dr Samih Tarabichi began practicing medicine at Citrus Memorial Hospital 502 Highland Blvd., Inverness, Florida, where he worked for ten years and focused mainly on Orthopedics and arthroplasty.

In 1996, Dr Tarabishi announced his plan to move to the United Arab Emirates. This decision surprised his colleagues in the hospital, who began to wonder (why would he leave the city that orthopedics describes as paradise??!!) And the strangest thing is that in their view, there is no need to travel to work in the Arabian Gulf region. Simply because the patient who needs this type of operation will travel to America and Europe to have it.

They did not know that the main goal of Dr. Tarabishi from traveling to Dubai is to give his four children an opportunity to spend more time than his parents who reside in that good country. Dr Tarabishi mentions that in the first year he performed only seven knee replacement operations only, but after several years the average became Approximately 850 joints per year, which made him one of the most famous joint surgeons in the world, and he was called the godfather of joint surgery.

In 1999, Dr. Tarabishi established the first data bank on joint surgery in the Middle East, where he linked this base to the University of Dundee in Scotland for several years, and then several research institutions in Europe and the United Arab Emirates. Based on this information, he was able to develop a fully flex knee joint that enables the patient to have full range of motion, which wasn’t existing before and he obtained 7 patents worldwide so far in this field.

These are some of the names that our dear patients love to call Dr. Tarabishi after he actually started performing knee replacement surgery using the full flexion knee joint that he personally developed with a group of world-famous doctors through the American company Zimmer, which is the largest joints manufacturer in the world. the joint was like a revolution and radical change in the world of arthroplasty.

The story began in the USA when Dr. Tarabishi was performing joint arthroplasty for patients coming from the Middle East, especially Muslims who wanted to continue praying normally and sit on the ground but there was an issue, the current artificial joints at that time did not provide this feature for a reason, which is, the whole focus was on Western patients to suit their measurements and lifestyle.

That was at the of early 20 Century, where Dr Tarabichi was noticing a remarkable increasing in the needs of arthroplasty between the middle eastern patients, therefor he started traveling intensively to attend the biggest global arthroplasty conference to raise the point about the importance of developing an artificial joint with full flexion and more sizes suite more for the middle eastern patients, at the beginning non of the manufacturers was interested to look into this issue, luckily Zimmer a medical manufacturer in the USA was noticing that and was interested to work on the implant, Dr Tarabichi proudly was part of the doctors group who developed that implant which was letterly a revolution in the arthroplasty world and now is used worldwide.

Its called Persona knee implant by Zimmer.

Dr Tarabichi have gained so far 7 international patent from the USA and europe in the arthroplasty world and its about the full flexion knee joint, minimally invasive knee replacement and knee revision surgeries.

A part from his commitment to enhance the medical filed he established the international congress for joint reconstruction in the middle east in 2012 which is happening yearly and considered as one of the most successful conferences in the middle east.
